BetterSleep: Getting Started Guide

Your all-in-one app for better rest, deeper sleep, and mindful relaxing moments 😴✨


1. 📲 Where to Download BetterSleep

BetterSleep is available on both platforms:

* Disclaimer: The visuals in this guide are based on the iOS version of the app. Due to technical differences, ongoing updates, or feature testing, the interface may look slightly different on Android or change over time.


2. 🔐 Logging in with Premium

Logging in ensures you unlock your Premium features. You can log in:

  • During onboarding, select "I already have an account. Sign in" when prompted.

  • Or, from the Homepage. go to “Profile” > “Log in” anytime to restore access.



3. 🏠 Explore the Homepage (Main Navigation)

A. To get you started – Unsure where to begin? This section offers a curated variety to help you explore.

B. SleepTales – Ease your mind before bedtime.

C. Meditations – Guided meditations for sleep, anxiety, focus, and more.

D. Music – Relaxing tracks and binaural beats to help you wind down.

E. Mixes – Curated mixes of ambient noises like rain, waves, and white noise.

F. Sounds – Ambient noises like rain, waves, and white noise.

G. Sleep Tracker – Track sleep quality and patterns. You can also click on Track Sleep on the Homepage or within the guided content player/mixer

H. Insights - Uncover what happens while you sleep! Record the sounds you make while you sleep and listen to them when you wake up. BetterSleep identifies when you snore, move around, sleep talk and make other common sounds at night.

I. My Library – Where you will find all your favorite and saved content

J. Search 🔍– Search for content (English only)

K. Profile – To login, access the app settings, the chronotype quiz and the Help & Support section, change language…

L. Set alarm – Set an alarm and wake up to your favorite mix

M. Set reminder – Set nightly reminders to establish a consistent bedtime routine and enjoy more restful sleep.

4. 🎧 How to Play Content (Sounds/Music/Mixes/Brainwaves):


5. ⏱️ How to Set a Timer (Sound/Music/Mix):

  1. Tap on Sounds and select your sounds, music & brainwave

  2. Tap on the Current Mix button at the bottom of the screen (it shows which sounds are playing)

  3. Tap on Add Timer

  4. Set your timer duration

  5. Tap on Save


6. 🧘🏻‍♀️ How to Play & Stop Guided Content

  • In the player, tap the “Clear all” button to stop all currently playing content.

  • Especially helpful when you’ve built a mix of sounds or music and want to reset.

  • Choose a guided content (meditation/sleeptale) and click on Play

  • To stop it, tap on End Session

7. 🌙 Sleep Tracker – How to Start and Stop

You can use the Sleep Tracker to track/record your sleep with or without content:

To stop tracking:

  • Tap Stop in the Sleep tracker screen or Wake Up in the alarm page to stop the recorder.


8. ⏰ Alarm/Smart Alarm – How to Use ItYou can set an Alarm from the Homepage as well as in the Profile section.

Smart Alarm - Wake up at the right moment in your sleep cycle:

  • Open the Sleep Tracker

  • Tap No alarm

  • Choose a wake-up window (e.g., between 7:00–7:30 AM)

  • The app will wake you during the lightest sleep phase in that window for a gentler wake-up.

  • When the alarm rings, click on Wake up to turn the alarm off as well as the recorder

*** Make sure notifications are enabled! ***


9. Sleep Insights 📊

  • Where do I find my sleep data/recordings?

You can find all your sleep data and recordings through the Insights tab the day after tracking your sleep (assuming you enabled the sleep recorder for the night).
